The Stanford Stop Smoking Program is currently enrolling participants in a study testing the success of the Selegiline Patch for long term smoking cessation. Selegiline is an FDA approved medication for the treatment of depression. This will be the first trial of the effectiveness of the transdermal patch form of Selegiline to help those trying to quit smoking. This medication may aid in the quit smoking attempt by relieving the physical withdrawal that occurs when quitting smoking. This allows for a participant to better learn to live without smoking during the initial phase of becoming a nonsmoker. A person interested in this study will be asked to complete an initial office appointment and a physical examination at one of two local clinics prior to being admitted to the study.
