Serve as a literacy tutor and role model for girls in K-5th grades in our innovative GIRLStart and WOW! programs. Spend at least one afternoon a week helping girls achieve academic success, a healthy lifestyle, and high self-esteem in Girls Inc. after-school programs held at CUES/Futures, Parker, and TCN/ICS elementary schools in Oakland. * Volunteers must commit to at least one day a week for two hours from 3:15 PM to 5:15 PM, for a minimum of four months. * Ability to spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young girls. * Experience facilitating youth activities preferred. * Bilingual Spanish/English highly desirable. * Experience working with diverse communities preferred. * Ability to work collaboratively with other adults. ... read more
