Starting Blocks is seeking volunteer Life Skills Mentors to work with Berkeley High seniors, who are participating in the Starting Blocks pilot program. Mentor volunteers will provide support, on the individual assignments, related to each module in the program. Modules will include topics such as resumes/cover letters, interviewing, household budgeting, public speaking, etc. There will be specific goals that are outlined for each mentor/mentee meeting to provide structure. To give students the support that they require, we ask that you commit to a shitt of either am's 9-12 or pm's 1-4. Volunteers able to contribute more time, may work with more than one student and/or more than one shift. Additionally, our mentors should plan to commit from, through the end of the school year (mid June). All volunteers will need to participate in a one hour general school district training session before they start work in the classroom with the program.
