Responsibilities: Postdoctoral researchers will work together with a cross-disciplinary team of materials scientists, chemists and physicists to elucidate the fundamental aspects of surface bonding by small molecules, create new chemical mechanisms for strict control of surface-ligand interactions, and quantify the impact of surface chemistry on the optical and electronic properties of nanocrystals. Researchers will be expected to complement one another's skills and expertise to formulate a comprehensive understanding of nanoparticle surfaces. This foundational knowledge will empower us to manipulate nanocrystal properties and characterize their ensemble interactions with the environment in diverse energy-related applications currently under investigation at the Molecular Foundry. Key Responsibilities Characterize colloidal semiconductor nanocrystal surface chemistry, structure, optical and electronic properties, at both the single-particle and ensemble level. ... read more
