First Premier Security will be holding TASER class for March 27th for our comprehensive 8-hour TASER training and certification class. These classes are held twice each month, however, there will be no class for the month of April 2010.

Students will:
� Learn how to take command of a potentially dangerous situation before deploying TASER

� How to give verbal and direct orders to a subject before deploying TASER

� Deployment tactics

� Tactical reload

� Probe placement and removal

� Control and cuff under power and more

Students will be required to take part in role plays and fire two live TASER cartridges.

Performs law enforcement , security, traffic control, and public information duties that provide a safe environment for students, staff, and the general public while on District or campus property. Protects District property by carrying out pro-active programs and traditional law enforcement procedures. Enforces California Vehicle Code, State Penal Code, Education code and District regulations.

The Police Officer I reports to the Chief of Police or Police Lieutenant, District-wide. This is a part-time classified, short-term and/or substitute hourly position, up to 40 hours per week. Position will be subject to a rotation-based schedule, occupying either day shift 7 AM - 3 PM or swing shift 3 PM -11 PM,to include weekends, holidays and special events.

1. Patrols designated areas of the Community College District to preserve law and order.
2. Discovers and prevents the commission of crimes and enforces laws, regulations, and ordinances.

12. Responds to complaints and hazardous situations.
13. Conducts investigations of reported injuries and accidents.
14. Responds to incidents putting students, staff, and the general public at risk or harm.
15. Interviews victims, complaints and witnesses.
16. Interrogates suspects. Makes arrests as necessary.
17. Testifies and presents evidence in court.
18. Participates in and may conduct a variety of criminal investigations involving crimes against persons and property, auto theft, and narcotics.
19. Gathers evidence and may prepare cases for prosecution.
20. Provides security at District and campus functions as required.
21. Opens and closes buildings and rooms for meetings.
22. Directs traffic and controls parking and safe movements of vehicles in parking areas.
23. Detects and reports fire hazards.
24. Extinguishes small blazes and reports fires to the local Fire Department using established emergency communications protocols.
25. Responds to fire and burglar alarms. Summons police and fire department personnel as needed.
26. Directs traffic at fire, special events and other emergency or congested situations.
27. Contacts and cooperates with other law enforcements agencies in matter relating to the apprehension of offenders and investigation of offenses.
28. Assures proper functioning of equipment. Notifies designated personnel regarding impaired equipment and malfunctions.
29. Enhances day-to-day public relations by providing information and assistance to students, staff, and the public in a way that establishes and maintains rapport with the college community.
30. Answer questions from students, staff and the public concerning local and State laws, procedures and activities of the department. Provides information and responds to questions from students, staff, and the public.
31. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objectives of the position.

1. Requires a working knowledge of the methods and practices and procedures of effective law enforcement including those used in patrol, crime prevention, traffic control, investigation, and identification.
2. Requires knowledge of the pertinent Federal, State, local and District laws and ordinances including applicable sections of the California Penal Code, State Education code, Motor Vehicle code, Health and Safety Code, Business and Professional Codes and laws related to the area of responsibility.
3. Requires a thorough procedural understanding of criminal law and criminal procedures with particular reference to the apprehension, arrest and custody of persons committing misdemeanors and felonies, including rules of evidence pertaining to the seizure and preservation of evidence.
4. Requires understanding of and skill at applying basic interviewing and interrogation techniques, use and maintenance of firearms, vehicle operations and safe driving practices, standard broadcasting procedures using a police radio system, and crowd, vehicle and pedestrian control.
5. Requires sufficient math skills to record distances, numbers, and times.
6. Requires sufficient writing skill to prepare professional reports.
7. Requires sufficient human relations skills to resolve confrontation, effect behavior of others, facilitate small group processes, guide the work others, and convey a positive image of the organization.

1. Requires the ability to perform all of the duties of the position effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
2. Must be able to utilize all of he tools and equipment of the position in a safe and responsible manner.
