Reliability Lab Technician
Temporary: 3 months
Job description:
The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct reliability testing for solar panels, solar tracker system, structural and mirror materials. Activities for this position include, but not limited to:
• Test samples in environmental accelerated test chambers and other customized tests
• Help develop test setup, install, and monitor tests for long-term controller and tracker system reliability testing indoors and outdoors
• Conduct Hi-pot test, Electroluminescence test, solar cell performance tests, etc.
• Automation of experimental set-up for data acquisition
• Conduct failure analysis for solar panels, tracker, and reflector materials using different techniques such x-sectioning, polishing, optical microscopy, and material analysis
• Use Instron to pull various structural related material samples
• Manage reliability travelers related to structural materials, mirror materials, and tracker tests
• Wiring, organizing, and troubleshooting experimental set-up
• Use equipment such as reflectometer and/or spectrophotometer to measure mirror material and encapsulant material optical properties
• Make samples and coupons of structural materials and mirror materials and prepare them for testing
Qualifications:
• 5 years industry experience as engineering lab technician
• Experience of making experimental set-up for reliability, mechanical, and life testing
• Experience with reliability testing and experience of working with environmental chambers
• Knowledge of working with data acquisition units and electrical equipment
• Experience and skill using sensitive, high precision measurement instruments
• Strong organizational and time-management skills and strong documentation skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Microsoft office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of Labview programming and other languages including C is a plus.
• Knowledge of PCB schematic and measurement of electrical parameters of electronic components is a plus.
• Knowledge of statistical data analysis is a plus.
• Previous experience with solar industry is a plus.
• Familiarity of industry standards especially solar test standards is a plus.
