Quality Control Inspector

This is a 3 month temporary position!

SCOPE: The Quality Control Inspector inspects incoming, in-process and final assemblies partially or completely while working on the assembly floor, at vendor locations, in the machine shop or in the inspection lab. In addition, the Inspectors are required to cross-train and learn all aspects of inspection as they become more senior in their role and scope of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1. Understand, support and follow the Corporate Vision, Mission & Values Statements.
2. Support company goals and objectives.
3. Understand, follow and support Mizuho OSI’s internal Quality System policies, procedures and work instructions including but not limited to applicable external regulations (21 Code of Federal Regulation Part 820 Quality System Regulations and applicable International Standards).
4. Perform a variety of inspection tasks to determine compliance that includes but is not limited to inspection of parts, sub-assemblies or finished products using standard physical means, and/or mechanical or electrical testing equipment.
5. Based on experience, perform a wide range of inspection duties that includes receiving, in-process floor assembly, machine shop and supplier source inspection.
6. Record product inspection results, completes related documentation, and perform data entry and transactions after completion of inspection.
7. May operate the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) or Optical Comparator based on level of expertise.
8. Perform testing, gather and document test data for programs and/or projects for engineering and/or quality assurance.
9. In a more senior role, may assist in or perform the request for change of engineering drawings and work related processes through the engineering change control process.
10. If in a Lead role, provides leadership, mentoring, training and direction to Quality Control staff for receiving and/or in-process inspection.

The employee may also be required to lift 45 pounds occasionally during the normal course of work. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for inspection purposes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Within the Production/Assembly Floor or at Supplier sites, the employee may be exposed to sharp objects, small tools, hot objects, adhesives, UV light, various testing equipment, isopropyl alcohol, soldering equipment, hi-pot testers and other machinery and test equipment, etc. The environmental noise level is moderate to high. Within the inspection lab, the employee is exposed to sharp objects, small tools, various testing equipment, isopropyl alcohol, hi-pot testers and other electrical test equipment, etc. The noise level in this work environment is low to moderate and temperature is a constant 68º Fahrenheit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS – The qualifications below are the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to do this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. In-depth knowledge of engineering drawings is required.
2. Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
3. Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook)
4. Ability to do basic to complex inspection techniques using precision equipment (micrometers, height gauge and test indicators, etc.) and work instructions effectively. Depending on level of knowledge/experience more training may be provided.
5. Depending upon experience, the inspector shall have basic to complex knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance skills. Dependent on level of knowledge/experience more training may be provided.
6. Depending upon experience, can operate and produce basic programs for the Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) and Optical Comparator. Dependent on level of knowledge/experience more training may be provided.
7. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions. Perform operations with inch, foot, and yards as well as millimeter; centimeter and meter.
8. Ability to measure accurately using complex to basic inspection equipment.
9. Basic knowledge of statistical sampling plans.
