Increasingly challenging manufacturing management responsibilities across a broad range of business functions, including involvement on corporate level EHS&S and inventory improvement teams, and exceptional simplification of supply chain operations.
Operations Manager, (2003 – 2009)
Managed a staff of up to 100 employees with a yearly budget of $2.5 million, and inventory of near $70 million. Senior Staff member of the Plant Management Team, making strategic decisions and providing direction for the lean manufacturing and worldwide fulfillment of NonStop HP servers. The operation was ISO 2000, 14001, and 18001 certified.
♦ Fremont’s liaison with Puerto Rico and Singapore Operations, negotiating the IT, performance, and financial flow requirements for the successful new supply chain implementation, resulting in an annual cost savings of $10M.
♦ Program managed the yearlong effort at obtaining the difficult Voluntary Protection Program OSHA Star Certification for the Fremont Plant, the first HP plant with this certification, and the best certification score given by Cal-OSHA.
♦ Provided operations support to the cross functional NPI team that rolled out the first NonStop Server in 9 years, insuring the introduction of lean manufacturing processes, implementation of supplier owned inventory strategy, and the standardization of logistic and performance metrics. Best quality result of any NonStop product rollout.
♦ Led Corrective Action Teams that reduced mechanical defects at customer sites by 80%, and improved internal inspection failures by 95%.
♦ Developed direct reports to higher levels of job responsibilities and promotions, including managerial advancements.
Production Control and Warehouse Manager, (2002 – 2003)
Responsible for the production planning of RIP/WIP material from receiving dock through the board test operation. Balanced supplier owned inventory pulls with production demands. Coordinated all production and field purges. Managed the disposition of RMA material. Initiated the quarterly scrap package reviews.
♦ Improved monthly Field Service repair fill rate from 65% to a consistent 100%, while improving the repair cycle time from 30 days to less than 10 days, resulting in a reduction of 50% of required inventory.
♦ Led team to improve inventory accuracy of parts carousel from 80% to 100%, and our open stockroom inventory to over 99.7% for 5 straight years.
♦ Improved efficiency of receiving area to insure receipt of all material within 24 hours in spite of diminishing resources.
System Test and Integration Manager, (1997 – 2002)
Managed a staff of technicians, engineers, and shop floor personnel to build and integrate NonStop servers. Crucial interface with Engineering and Quality, improving internal processes and quality results.
♦ Drove test time reduction of NonStop server from 16 hours to 8 hours, and improved end of line defects by 73%.
♦ Created criteria and user acceptance testing for the transition from legacy MRP system to SAP.
♦ Recommended yearly capital budget for test equipment and fixtures.
