Part Time Morning Nanny (walnut creek)
Date: 2009-11-05, 2:51PM PST

Hello!
My name is Shannon, and I am a senior at Mills College finishing with my degree in Child Development. I am currently looking for a part time nanny/babysitter job a few times a week starting in the spring.
I have a busy schedule in the afternoons with school and my student teaching internship at the Mills College Children's School, so I would only be available mornings mostly. I am looking for no more than 10hours a week.
Just so I don't waste your time, here is my availability, beginning January the 18th:
Mondays: 8:00 am - 12:15 pm
Tuesdays: 8:00am - 9:00 am
Wednesdays: 8:00 am - 10:30 am
Thursdays: 8:00 am - 9:00 am and/or 4:00 pm and later
Fridays: 8:00 am - 10:30 am

I know these are limited hours, as I said I am very busy, but I love being a nanny! I have worked for multiple families, and my two most recent nanny jobs were for families with three children. I have the most experience with children ages 3 months to 5 years, but I have worked with older children as a swim instructor, coach and referee when I worked with the Recreation Department of the Town of Danville. I have currently been working both for pay and as part of an internship at the Mills College Children's School in Oakland for more than a year, the majority of which was spent working in the Infant/Toddler classroom. I have great references, and I know they will agree with me when I say that I am good with children. With my children I have enjoyed walks, puddles, mud, paint, sand, beaches, hikes, bugs and all sorts of wonderfully messy things. I am a big advocate of play (and not of TV) as being the best learning experience. I love taking the children outdoors, and just being outdoors in general.

To the nitty gritty: I have been fingerprinted by the state as part of my current placement at MCCS, have recieved CPR and First Aid training, clean recent TB test, have a reliable car, am willing to become Trustline certified, clean driving record, and a clean criminal record! I speak a little Spanish as well as a few of your basic baby signs. I am in the process of applying to Mills College's grad program in Education with a focus in Child Life in Hospitals, so I will remain in the area beyond this semester. While I live in Walnut Creek, near the 680/24 intersection, I am willing to travel to the surrounding area or possibly near Mills College.
My rates start at $12 an hour for one child.
I hope to make this a longer term position as I love to get to know children and their families well! However a short term position would be wonderful as well.
Have a great day, hope to hear from you soon!
-Shannon
