We’re looking for an experienced Technical Editor to be responsible for all phases of document and deliverable production including: editing/proofreading, layout, word processing, quality review, production, distribution, and archiving.

Key Responsibilities

• Edit complex technical documents for clarity, consistency, and grammatical correctness.
• Work closely with authors, technical reviewers, editors, graphic designers, and other staff to meet deadlines, ensure quality, and meet client needs.
• Train and advise technical staff on grammar and technical writing, company style guide, and incorporation of graphic elements into work products.
• Review editing, formatting, and layout of other editors to ensure that work products are of the highest quality.
• Manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Provide hands-on coordination of special projects.
• Assist with various clerical functions as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of recent, relevant technical editing experience (including, but not limited to, scientific, software, engineering, etc.).
• Minimum 3 years of recent graphics/layout experience.
• Degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Office Suite 2003 or later, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat Professional. Practical knowledge of HTML and bibliographic programs a plus.
• Robust knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition.
• Ability to read and understand complex technical language and suggest changes for clarity, organization, consistency, and readability.
• Competency with graphical layout and formatting within technical documentation.
• Impeccable level of accuracy, efficiency, and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
• Aptitude for working both cohesively within a team and independently as required.
