Compass Rose Media is searching for a experienced web developer for our Santa Cruz studio. We are a fun, casual creative team dedicated to producing high-impact media. Our website workload is increasing, and we need a motivated programmer who can hit the ground running and produce bulletproof, browser-compliant code.

This is mainly a programming position, though we do create rich media sites so a creative eye is a definite plus. Preference will be given to candidates with formal design education. A basic working knowledge of graphics software (CS3) is an absolute must.

Responsibilities:

- develop and maintain innovative web projects of varying size and complexity
- Perform updates, fixes, change as needed to existing client sites
- work with designers and project managers to brainstorm solutions to technical challenges
- work with producers to help develop project scope and budget estimates
- constantly explore emerging technologies and coding trends
- integrate existing APIs for existing tools (Flickr, Facebook, blogs, maps,etc..)
- help improve our current protocols for delivering video and audio online

Experience with the following languages/technologies:

- XHTML/CSS
- Javascript/AJAX/JQuery
- PHP/SQL Databases
- XML
- PHP & Flash Remoting
- Drupal, Wordpress

Requirements:

- 3-5+ years industry experience
- a solid portfolio of real-world sites
- motivated, organized and dependable nature
- good communication skills, willing to talk directly with clients
- enjoy working in an open, collaborative environment
- meticulous attention to detail including cross-browser compatibility
