Independently owned integrated marketing agency in San Francisco seeks a Front-end Web Developer available for 20-30 hours per week for the remainder of the calendar year with the potential for longer term employment.
This position will report in to the Director of Digital Services and Interactive Producers and will be responsible for owning the development and architecture of our clients’ HTML-based deliverables, including but not limited to websites, microsites, landing pages and e-mails. Use of a variety of development languages is required. The candidate must possess knowledge of best practices and cross-client functionalities.

Responsibilities:
• Leverage expert knowledge of CSS, web standards and coding best practices to produce web-ready HTML deliverables based on creative comps and other source files.
• Share knowledge of cross-browser AND cross-email-client quirks within the team, and advise visual designers of current best practices and possible options for executing designs within technical limitations.
• Advise and educate members of the interactive creative team, and the agency at-large, on the key areas of web usability and accessibility.
• Identify and communicate potential design implementation issues before they become problems that impact production or delivery.
• Work with the Interactive Producer to define and/or perform necessary test procedures to ensure the quality of all HTML-based deliverables.
• Provide input into the creation of internal agency standards for web and online development.
• Support Swirl’s account and production management team as needed with tracking work progress, managing files and assets, and estimating necessary time to perform tasks within your area of expertise.
• Ability to code HTML emails that successfully render on all major email clients.
Additionally:
The Developer is expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge of the technologies necessary to the performance of the core duties of the position, and that he/she will actively pursue new and/or deeper competencies in complementary areas, such as Facebook Markup Language, client-side scripting, Flash production, web hosting, code management & version control, and the presentation of content on mobile devices and other non-PC media.
Requirements:
-4-7 years’ experience as a web developer, preferably in an agency setting
-Self-starter who is capable of working both autonomously and collaboratively
-Working knowledge of web marketing strategy, interface design, and architecture
-Proficiency with email development and deployment
-Extreme attention to detail; ability to complete projects with minimal supervision
-Understanding of Web analytics and SEO strategies/implementation
-Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time with concurrent deliverables
