Rails Web Designer, San Francisco, CA.
Do you want to be part of a fast-growing software company, one that is on the move – but really needs your unique talents? Not even two years old, New Relic has already reshaped its marketplace and is growing quickly. The company was started by a group of people who have created successful companies before, and are at it again.
You will be joining a unique team. People who succeed at New Relic have a sense of urgency, a lot of initiative, a commitment to customer success, an enthusiasm about pushing the edge … and a sense of humor. We provide interesting work, a great product, new things to learn, and the freedom to make the job work the way only you can do it. A strong work ethic and a drive to produce results are essential.
New Relic is looking to hire an experienced Designer to join our fun and growing company. We're a small and scrappy start-up, so of course we're looking for someone with top-notch Web Design skills who can also implement those designs in Ruby on Rails, Javascript, and CSS. And we're an agile and distributed organization, so we're looking for someone who has "agile" in their DNA: someone who enjoys iterating to a great solution.
We are passionate - possibly even crazy - about application performance management. Our mission is making web applications run better, making internet users more productive, and making life easier for developers. In our new V2 product, we've emphasized user-centered design to better serve our rapidly growing set of customers. And with our V2 success, we're rocketing forward with a whole slew of additional features, all of which require a Designer's touch.
Our product is simple for our users, but complex behind the scenes, so the right candidate has experience designing, building, and deploying non-trivial web applications. We're looking for someone who is at home in Photoshop, Rails, Javascript, CSS, and can deal with the real life cross-browser issues.
To be considered seriously, you will have:
• Designed and deployed commercial RoR applications (please provide urls)
• Strength in Javascript and CSS (again, urls)
• Experience with user-centered interaction design
• Ability to implement web applications in Ruby on Rails
This position is targeted for our San Francisco office, but could be located in Portland, Oregon for the right person. We offer competitive compensation (including pre-IPO stock options) and big-company benefits (medical, dental, etc), while maintaining the energy, agility and fun atmosphere of a start-up.
New Relic is most decidedly an equal opportunity employer. We seek applicants of diverse background and hire without regard to race, color, gender, religion, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, disability, age, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
