Overview:

We are looking for a savvy technical business analyst to build and maintain the critical reporting that supports our team in making smart business decisions. This role at Linden Lab contributes to the organization''s success through expertise in SQL-based reporting and business problem analysis.

Below are a few examples of the analysis that an individual in this role might tackle:

* Analyze economic activity and develop/enhance metrics to measure the health of the Second Life Economy.
* Study system adoption patterns across multiple attributes to increase Linden Lab''s effectiveness in serving its customers.
* Identify, compute and publish key statistics to our residents to directly inform and improve their Second Life experience.
* Develop key metrics for viewer and simulator performance to monitor and track Second Life availability and stability.
* Analyze trends in crash reporting to help engineering prioritize work on bug fixes.
* Qualified individuals will have a solid background in SQL and the passion to distill powerful metrics and reporting from large volumes of complex data.


Responsibilities:

* Analytics Development- Perform detailed analysis to support the planning and impact assessment for company initiatives.
* Report Development - Work in collaboration with the Linden Lab team to understand business issues, identify new valuable areas of analysis and develop reports and metrics that support effective rapid decision making.
* Warehouse Design: Work with the Operations and Engineering teams to ensure that the reporting warehouse design is evolved in a way that supports the analytics requirements of the business.
* Ad-Hoc Reporting Environment Support - Deploy and maintain reporting models using Business Objects Web Intelligence and Crystal Reports as well as customized internal reporting tools. Conduct informal training sessions that foster a solid understanding within the business community of both the ad-hoc reporting models and reports published through the reporting dashboard.


Qualifications:

This is a senior position that requires a candidate to have a strong grasp of business concepts, be able to quickly navigate complex data relationships, and have a deep interest in information analysis.

* 3+ years experience working extensively with SQL
* 5+ years experience working directly with a business group to translate business requirements into technical solution.
* Keen interest in understanding business issues through detailed information analysis.
* Understanding of rational index design and SQL statement optimization techniques.
* Ability to work in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment on really interesting problems.
* Must be able to use sound judgment to develop effective solutions from loosely stated requirements. Intense attention to detail.
* Should be able to effectively QA own work product to make sure that warehouse data and published reports are complete and accurate.
* Exceptional problem solving and communication skills.
