Job Summary: The Web Developer, located in our SOMA office, is part of a team that builds sites for well established brands such as Information Week, Interop, Enterprise 2.0 Conference, Web 2.0 Expo, and VoiceCon. Specifically, this position is responsible for building and maintaining microsites for the Information Week brand. These sites, which are templatized, are written in HTML, supported by Javascript and PHP. The content of these sites -- newsletters, whitepapers, articles, blogs, and on occasion, video content -- is determined by our clients. Usually the content is gated by a simple registration page.
The web developer often has a few of microsites in the development pipeline at a time. These sites often have different project managers, who collect requirements from the client. So the position requires good communication skills and the ability to multitask well.
Over the longer term, this developer will be central to revamping the process by which we build and maintain these sites (including moving them over to a LAMP stack), as we intend to build new internal tools to better support site development and improve communication among the project team members.
Essential Job Duties:
70% - Design, build and maintain complex, dynamic scalable custom web sites and using PHP, Javascript, and HTML. Translate project design into code, working within an existing Teamsite infrastructure.
20% - Communicate with sales, marketing, web development and internet architecture teams to gather requirements and initiate work that needs to be done by other teams, such as our sys admins. Many different groups are involved in the construction of custom sites, and being a proactive communicator helps the projects to proceed rapidly.
10% - Provide technical documentation for projects using the team wiki.
Job Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years experience in JavaScript, CSS, HTML (please provide URLs of past or current projects with your resume).
A minimum of 2 years experience required in PHP development. Must be able to detail real-world experience.
