Globally active non-profit production company has completed Series One (6 hrs) of a cross-cultural interactive multimedia program that has now been licensed to the BBC and two international digital networks as well. These licensing deals were extremely lucrative on a pay-per-finished-minute basis. We have received wonderful reviews, particularly from famed producer George Lucas for example, and we have strong interest for this program from several PBS stations, Discovery Networks, and channels in India, Middle East, and Hong Kong.
Our problem: while we have the vision, artistic direction, and production experience, we do not personally have the licensing, marketing, or distribution expertise- nor the time - to chase down these opportunities and close these deals, nor to market the content to innumerable other digital networks that are needing unique proprietary content right now for their multiple platforms and mobile devices as well as the more standard broadcast deliveries.
We are seeking a very experienced (but perhaps currently under-employed) individual who has attended MIP or MIPcom in the past and has the contacts in the current digital broadcast industry to make these deals happen for us in a timely fashion, commencing IMMEDIATELY.
This person should be
technology-savvy,
believe in high quality entertainment through educational or documentary-style programming,
be passionate about positive-values content that shares cultures and music,
and be a very outgoing but organized self-starter with a motivated attitude and lots of energy.
Location:
The global headquarters of our company has moved from London to downtown Oakland but the person(s) handling the distribution of this Series (and our other content) could be based anywhere in the globe and would be working with their own computer(s) and telephone(s) to make these contacts, connections, and licensing deals. Any necessary travel costs would be decided and approved beforehand and would be reimbursed at the amount agreed on.
Duties:
It is assumed that the distributor(s) would assist in developing the marketing materials they choose to use for this particular educational but entertaining Series, and then they would contact all of the acquisition directors at all libraries, universities, broadcast television networks, online/Broadband networks, IPTV channels, appropriate cable/satellite channels, digital networks, distance-learning environments, mobile content providers, airline-entertainment companies, product-placement companies, and potential product partners (we have two potential deals in this regard as well).
This is a contract position and the hours would be determined by mutual agreement.
Compensation: there would be a mutual "probationary" period and an eventual salaried period:
The distributor(s) would be paid on a commission basis (a high percent of the total licensing deal, in a mutually agreed percentage amount prior to commencement) for the first two contracts achieved, and then at the mutual agreement and satisfaction of both parties, would be put on a salary plus commission basis going forward, after the first two deals were secured as a "probationary trial period" for both parties.
Please reply to this ad with your CV and contact details, listing all distribution experience and outlining the reasons for your specific contacts in the industry.
Please include contact details for three persons that can be references on your behalf in the industry.
If we meet up for an in-person interview or (distance prohibiting that) online/Skype meeting, you will be asked to discuss the following:
1) to explain what your solutions would be to our problem if you were in our position, having highly-reviewed content but no funds or staff to distribute it.
2) to outline some marketing steps you would take and how you might leverage your experience in online communities and social networks to assist you building recognition of this Series.
If you do not have the time or experience to take on this project with us but know someone in the industry who might, please pass it on to them. We know that one person cannot possibly handle everywhere at once, and we may need distribution reps in each region of the globe!
But you will obviously have first option on the specific contacts whom YOU wish to approach and the number of licensing deals that you bring in for our content.
