We are looking for a support engineer to provide world class service to our growing customer base. This position requires competence in many technical fields,
but predominantly an insane level of commitment to keeping our customers happy through rapid, accurate and competent support.
You must be willing to work an on-call schedule and travel as needed. You will be based out of our head quarters in San Francisco's Financial District and work
with remote-hands staff around the world. On occasion your presence will be required at a customer's location and you must be willing to travel as needed to keep
our customers happy. Even so, much of your duties will be performed via phone, email and remote terminal sessions, thus, excellent skills with verbal and written
language are required as is an obsessive attention to detail.
Required Skills:
* Positive demeanor, language and charm while running around handling five different emergencies with your clothes on fire. There will be a test.
* Demonstrate a solid understanding of linux server and network administration.
* Excellent hardware troubleshooting and repair.
* Troubleshooting services and protocol failures on linux and common RDBMS implementations.
* Familiarity with database concepts, administration best practices and SQL syntax.
* Expertise automating repetitive tasks using shell scripts, python, cron, etc.
* Keep your workplace clean and organized and provide structure encouraging others to do same.
* Document processes clearly enough for untrained individuals to follow.
* Able to lift 80 lbs several times in a single day. Our servers weigh between 50 and 140 lbs depending on configuration.
* Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Keep yourself organized and busy and ask for more work when you are not.
