SUMMARY: The Senior Desktop Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing desktop infrastructure and performing administration and engineering tasks to ensure systems are functioning properly and efficiently to support the business needs. The position provides technical analysis, design and implementation skills to new development and desktop upgrades for technical infrastructure. The person functions as leader for small to mid size projects as assigned and recommend solutions, creates/manages project plans, tracks status, monitors scope, and resolves issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Stay up-to-date and follow all Quality System procedures related to this job, which can affect the quality of products or services provided to our customers.
2. Assist management in developing an overall strategic plan for the rollout and support of all users in regards to the desktop and desktop software. This includes local office and a significant number of remote users.
3. Ensures disciplined project management methodologies are used on all IT projects, and completed on time and within budget.
4. Ensure all Sarbanes-Oxley and 21 CFR Part 11 control processes are followed and updated as needed.
5. Provide leadership to the IT staff in support of the ITSM software, used to manage all IT calls.
6. Participate with other departments in the research, design, development, implementation and maintenance of the company-wide information and business process systems.
7. Day to Day support of all local users and a significant number of remote users.
Supervisory responsibilities:
Leads and directs outside contractors as required. Indirect technical desktop expertise for all sites.

• Monitoring and auditing systems to ensure efficient operation;

• Providing technical expertise for network issues; and ensuring network architecture is fully documented and currency is maintained.
Education and/or Experience: Candidates must have an AA Degree or equivalent work experience and a minimum of 5 years in a Senior Engineer position. A minimum of 5 years experience within a Microsoft AD and Exchange environment is required as well as in depth knowledge of Desktops, Laptops and printer support. The ideal candidate firewall technologies, Symantec Anti-virus software and Solarwinds monitoring software. Competency in common PC applications such as Office, Visio, Project, Outlook, and Internet Explorer and experience reviewing systems security and trace logs to ensure compliance with best practices and local/federal regulations are also necessary.
