Contracting firm within fortune 500 company needs applicant for Site Decommission and Transition Hardware Technician

NOTE: HIGH AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED (95% - 100%)

Overview
This is a temporary position estimated to be 3 months and up to one year in duration. It is a hands-on hardware position to support our client at various US locations. This includes travel to each site to inventory and consolidate all of the compute spaces on the various sites including hardware, servers, electrical, networking, and cooling. Once the inventory is complete, the team would need to move equipment, dispose of excess equipment via a defined processes, and install new equipment.


Requirements
This position requires someone who can function in a high paced, constantly changing work environment and has the ability to manage tasks under little direct supervision. To be successful in this position, the qualified candidate must possess the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers and customers, as well as handle multiple responsibilities and priorities.

Scope of Work
• Perform detailed onsite inventory of all client assets in the US and Puerto Rico regions.
• Assess and note ability and ease of moving assets into or out of all rooms affected by program.
• Prepare un-needed HW for hand off to recycle teams.
• Prepare fork lifted HW for shipment to new locations.
• Perform all required installation or de-installation of cables, racks, server and storage enclosures, PDU's, etc. as needed.
• Escort movers to affected rooms and assure appropriate assets are moved or recycled as appropriate.
• Perform hands and eyes activities required by IT team as needed.
• Assist PM and remote towers to coordinate and perform local activities (power up or down devices, reconfigure cabling as needed etc.).
• Assure that exited server rooms are completely empty and ready to return to Global Real Estate (e.g. remove all excess HW, cabling, and racks etc. are removed).

Skills and Responsibilities:

• Excellent working knowledge and understanding of workstations, servers, network, voice, electrical, environmental control systems and other peripheral or integral systems found in data center, lab or production environments.
• Capable of managing inventory and logistics functions associated with installation, removal, assembly, disassembly, components, kitting, moving and packing of the client's equipment.
• Proven experience in site decommission / transition environment. Preferably within a multinational corporate environment.
• Ability and flexibility to travel to US and Puerto Rico locations for various durations of time.
• Ability to work independently, but also function as part of a team for various projects
• Good understanding of other infrastructure layers.
• Ability to work at all levels within the company, possibly even including globally.
• Excellent communicator.
