This person will join a growing network engineering team based in Sunnyvale, with responsibilities in multiple South Bay datacenter locations and occasional visits to the San Francisco main office. Hours are flexible, but will often require late evening and 24x7 responses to critical issues on a fast-growing, high volume network infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, and maintain high-capacity network hardware in a multi-vendor (Force10, F5, Juniper, Cisco) environment
• Manage physical network connectivity in high-density datacenter environment
• Monitor network utilization, capacity, and quality. Provide data on system and application network activity and give interpretation & guidance to relevant stakeholders
• Detect, diagnose, and resolve network problems using methods that minimally impact production environment function
• Participate in infrastructure capacity planning and expansion activities
• Analyze current and new network service requirements and provide appropriate solution proposals where needed
• Support systems and application teams in identifying and resolving complex functional issues, helping to identify or rule out network issues
• Provide peer review to other network engineers to validate proposed configurations and designs. Participate in complex team projects in both a contributor and lead role
• Evaluate and give recommendations on network hardware vendors & products, track industry trends and new technologies, and evaluate where Zynga should (or should not) engage
• Maintain network security controls and compliance on all network hardware
• Work with security team to establish network security standards and assess network vulnerability
Required Skills:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 5+ years of extensive experience with LAN/WAN networking hardware
• Comprehensive knowledge of L2 technologies-VLANs/VLAN tagging, Spanning Tree, Etherchannel
• Comprehensive knowledge of L3 technologies-IP Subnetting, IP routing, BGP, OSPF , VRRP
• Experience with physical layer technologies-Gig/10G Ethernet, CAT5/6 cabling, Fiber
• Experience with network load balancers (F5 BigIP/LTM)
• Experience with network security- firewalls/ACLs, VPN services
• Experience with Unix/Linux and core network services(DNS,SMTP,NTP,syslog,http servers)
• Experience working with a variety of network monitoring tools: nagios, cacti, snmp
• Experience working in a high traffic consumer web environment
• Expertise with installing and planning of new data center facilities
• Dedication to exceeding quality standards and providing services of the highest caliber
• Excellent multi-tasking and leadership skills
