Sr. Network Engineer (1798)
Overview:
Calix Networks IT provides a broad range of solutions that address critical organizational needs, such as enterprise converged networks, IT security, VoIP, telecommunications backbone networks, and surveillance systems.
We are looking for a Network Engineer that can thrive in a challenging and rewarding environment. This person will help design, implement, troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain networks, as well as provide backup for Systems Administrators.
Responsibilities:
Configures, tests, and maintains LAN/WAN equipments and related services
Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves network and system problems
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks and systems
Maintain and support companys LAN/WAN environment
Daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software
Build/add/upgrade hardware configuration
Support linux/unix/windows based network workstations and servers
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist personnel of other departments as a computer resource.
Provide on-the-job training to new department staff members.
Provide computer orientation to new company staff.
Required Qualifications:
Hands-on experience implementing and administrating network devices, Cisco, Bluecoat, Proxy Servers, Firewalls. Current environment:
o Firewalls
o Cisco Switches
o Cisco Routers
o Cisco VPN
o Wireless Access Points
o Cisco Certifications CCNA, CCNP, CCIE not required but a plus. (Calix provides for training and additional certifications)
o Knowledge of:
NIS
Kerberos
LDAP
Solaris 8,9,10
REHL 4.x, 5.x
Windows Servers and Workstations
Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of a range of computer networking systems and languages to include UNIX, Linux, Windows, or similar computer networks. Knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment. Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. Ability to install, configure, and maintain personal computers, networks, and related hardware and software. Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software. Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, applications, procedures, and techniques. Ability to identify and resolve computer system malfunctions and operational problems. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to provide technical training to end users. Ability to learn and support new systems and applications. Work with users requires interpersonal skills. This is normally acquired through a combination of a Bachelor's Degree and three to five years of networking experience.
Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.
