Summary Description

Responsible for building and maintaining the telecom services for Dolby Laboratories global operations. Ensures the stability, security, quality and productivity of the corporate telecom infrastructure and services by providing senior-level technical expertise. Provides senior-level technical consultation to support staff, end-users, project efforts and for business initiatives. Manages external vendors to provide scaleable, global and consistent service. Acts as a project manager on telecom-related projects.


Essential Job Functions
  • Per project plans, service level agreements, and corporate standards - rresearches, proposes, designs, implements, maintains, supplier manages, monitors, reports on and consults regarding the following technical areas of focus:
    • Converged voice and data (e.g., VoIP) services
    • Telecom service provider management
    • Wireless/Mobile service program and provider management
    • Telecom systems monitoring, auditing and reporting
  • Researches, assesses, recommends and implements enhancements to the corporate telephony services and dependent systems environments.
  • Architects, maintains and consults regarding all telecom components, functions, naming conventions and IP service implementations (ip schemes, vlans, routing, dns, wins, dhcp, ipsec, etc.).
  • Provides and maintains comprehensive documentation of Dolby’s telecom infrastructure
  • Responsible for the ongoing development and support of global technology standards and policies. Evaluates and deploys supplemental tools and functionality as needed. Maintains parallel test lab for testing of new telco products and disaster recovery situations
  • Performs telecom expense management and infrastructure purchasing.
  • Act as 3rd level support and telephony technology resource to the Service Desk and the corporate business at large. Collaborates with and provides guidance to Service Desk staff, Desktop Management Team, Engineering Services staff and others on telco-related projects.


Other Responsibilities
  • Perform duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or any senior member of the IT Department.
  • Perform tasks necessary to complete performance objectives and goals.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Education Required
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco hardware and operating systems
  • Strong knowledge of converged voice and networking technologies
  • Strong knowledge of MS Windows operating systems
  • Strong knowledge of MS productivity applications.
  • Strong knowledge of unified communication solutions
  • Experience designing, administering and maintaining networking services in a multinational corporate LAN/WAN environment.
  • Experience designing, administering, and maintaining LAN/WAN hardware and systems, i.e. switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networking systems, remote access systems, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to research and test solutions, strong planning and project coordination skills.
  • Strong knowledge of networked applications interoperability and IT industry standards.
  • Strong skills in the areas of verbal and written business communication.
  • Previous experience as an telecom engineer (5 years minimum)
  • Previous experience managing telecom expenses
  • Prior project leadership/subject matter responsibility on multinational corporate IT projects required
  • College education and related work experience required
  • Current Microsoft certifications required
  • Current Cisco certifications required
