Senior Operations Engineer

MyWire is currently seeking a SENIOR OPERATIONS ENGINEER to join its development team in Redwood Shores, CA.
Position Summary:
The primary function of the Senior Operations Engineer is to provide support and maintain the production environment. Other duties include the support of the corporate IT infrastructure, and inclusion in the on-call rotation. The production environment consists of CentOS/Redhat/Oracle Linux servers, Cisco routers and switches, F5 BigIP load balancers, and Network Appliance filers.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all hardware, OS, and application level administration of systems that support MyWire’s online media retailing platform and its customers.
• Performance tuning of server and server applications including Resin, MySQL, Oracle, and Linux OS (CentOS, Redhat, OEL).
• Operate in an on-call capacity, handle escalated help desk trouble tickets, and respond to emergencies.
• Evaluate, test, and apply critical system updates.
• Monitor utilization and perform capacity planning and evaluation.
• File backup and recovery via Symantec Backup Exec and Netbackup.
• Disk and storage management (SAN): Netapp cluster, Dell ax150 (EMC), Nexxan, Brocade, Qlogic.
• Respond to and/or complete escalated help desk trouble tickets within the appropriate timeframe.
• Assist with corporate IT infrastructure as needed: Exchange, Active Directory, Vmware ESXi.
• Perform network maintenance and configuration as needed: Cisco, VPN.
• Work with other members of the IT Operations team to ensure maximum availability and reliability of the production and corporate environments.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience administrating Unix/Linux server in a production environment.
• Well versed in common internet technologies.
• Solid understanding of backup and disaster recovery principles.
• Ability to create shell and Perl scripts.
• Hardware troubleshooting.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Hands on / working knowledge of the following:
o Cisco IOS, PIX, VPN, Load Balancers (BigIP or similar)
o Vmware or similar virtualization products
o SAN infrastructure: Brocade, Qlogic
o Netapp Filers (cluster / SAN experience preferred)
