One of the companies housed at Plug and Play Tech Center, home to over 200 of the Silicon Valley's hottest startups, is looking for a Senior Systems Operations Engineer/Administrator to join their team immediately!
The company is a fully funded startup (multi-millions in the bank) working on creating a state of the art Ad Network for the Entertainment Vertical (music, movies, celebrities etc). Due to their exclusive relationships with publishers, they will be serving Ad traffic in the orders of millions of ads on a daily basis at launch time.
At launch, they will be the largest vertical ad network and thirteenth largest internet ad network in the world. With the future of all digital media distribution in question, they have a truly substantial business opportunity while also developing sustainable revenue streams for media companies and artists for many decades to come.
Role Description:
We are looking to hire a highly seasoned and experienced individual to spear head our System Engineering effort and build a system foot print that will help us serve millions of requests every day, while at the same time accounting for fault tolerance, availability, security and data replication.
You will be working very closely with the engineers and program managers to better understand the requirements of the system and helping us make critical architectural decisions..
We are a big fan of Open Source Software and cloud computing so any experience with Amazon’s cluster is a plus ( EC2, Hadoop, MySQL, Apache Software Foundation)..
Other responsibilities include:
1) Oversee company’s internal Server setup/maintenance of the company,
2) Oversee Scaling, redundancy, uptime, SLA needs and influence the architecture/hardware decisions
3) Estimate hardware and software budgets
4) monitoring our systems and managing our development software needs etc..
Requirements:
* BS/MS degree in Computer Science or related field.
* 5+ years of experience in doing System Engineering for large-scale and complex Web systems.
* Experienced with open source technologies (Apache Software Foundation, Hadoop etc).
* Experience with Email Systems Management and software installation and maintenance etc
* Experienced with load balancers, software and hardware security, data center, replication scripts etc
* Programming experience with C/C++ or Java helpful
* Experience in Scripting required
* Prior experience in an early stage startup, a huge bonus
* Good communication skills and a friendly attitude a MUST!
