Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Engineer. This is a hands-on technical position, working with systems that run our SaaS business as well as other internal and customer facing systems.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate your domain knowledge by suggesting, designing, and implementing solutions for the many technical challenges faced by the Net OPS team.
• Design, install and manage internal and customer facing networks (servers, firewalls, routers, switches etc.)
• Lead and mentor junior team members.
• Plan, acquire and coordinate installation of in-house and remote hardware and software across the organization’s network.
• Develop processes for Deployment, Maintenance and Backup of various systems.
• Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions and intrusion detection systems.
• Review and continually improve on systems monitoring and alerting of all critical systems components.
• Work closely with the Technical Support organization to ensure a quick turn around on escalated support tickets and facilitate communication and process channels between Support and Systems Net OPS team.
• Collaborate with Software Engineering, Networking, and Product Management groups on new product offerings and enhancements to existing products and systems.
• Use business writing skills to draft end user communications and documentation for departmental processes / procedures.
• Change and configuration management, rigorous adherence to change and configuration control procedures.
• Deploy and administer web servers and application servers.
• IP and DNS Management.
• Some weekend and non-business hours work required.


Qualifications:

• Minimum 4 year degree or 2 year degree with CCNA or MCITP certification.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication skills; capable of writing purchase justifications, training users in complex topics, making presentations to an internal audience, and interacting positively with upper management.
• Independent problem-solver, self-motivated.
• 5+ years of experience as a system administrator, experience with both Microsoft windows and Linux operating systems is required.
• 2+ years experience in high availability customer facing production environment is required.
• Virtualization technologies – ESX, Parallels Virtuozzo, Hyper-V
• Deep domain expertise in enterprise or data center environments with server technologies including:
- o Networking fundamentals, router and switch configuration, IP Planning.
- o TCP/IP, NAT, DNS, SMTP, HTTP and SSL.
- o VPN Servers , PTP VPN, Load Balancers,
- o Storage (Fiber Channel, SAN, NAS, iSCSI)
- o Cisco ASA, Catalyst switches, and IP routing.
- o Hardware and software firewalls and network security concepts (IDS, Pen Testing).
- o MS Exchange, Active Directory
- o MS SQL Server and other database technologies
- o Monitoring (Nagios, WebWatch, MOM, SNMP)
- o Backup (Symantec, Acronis, VRanger)
• IT operations knowledge – Ticketing Systems, Change Control, Asset Management
• Meticulous and well-documented work is an absolute must.
• Working knowledge of Change Control, Configuration Management and Incident Management.
• A passion for technology and customer service.
• Ability to balance interruption with ongoing projects and deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.

Desired Skills:

• Data center experience, including cabling, racking, etc.
• Experience in a SaaS environment.
• Experience with Windows 2000 Active Directory.
• Experience, building, configuring and administering Linux (Fedora, RHEL) servers.
• Experience with LAMP applications.
• Scripting Languages (dos, csh, ksh, awk).
