Bay Area based technology consulting company is looking for a full-time Senior System Engineer (have current MCTS/MCSE) with strong system engineering skills, excellent writing & verbal communication skills and project management experience. The successful canidate will be highly motivated, organized, adaptable, and possess common-sense practicality.

This position is responsible for implementing IT projects at client locations as well as maintaining client and internal systems. The candidate must be a dynamic individual whose capabilities include high-level skills in working with Window Server 2003 & 2008, Exchange Server 2003 & 2007, SQL Server 2008, server virtualization utilizing Microsoft’s Hyper-V technologies and/or VMware A MUST.

Successful candidate needs to be comfortable meeting directly with clients to gather project requirements, ability to design IT plans, manage and implement project solutions. Position requires local travel to client sites; some remote work from home, possible.

Required Experience:
• 5+ years of related experience in Microsoft System Engineering and System Administration roles.
• 2+ years experience with Vmware or Microsoft Virtuals • BS or BA (completed)
• 5+ years experience in project management

Required Professional Qualifications:
• REQUIRES CURRENT CERTIFICATION for Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialists (MCTS) and Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE

Responsibilities:
• Assess system & network requirements
• Provide recommendations based on assessment; develop recommendations report & implement recommendations
• Meet with clients with sales team; help develop IT project proposals with sales team
• Develop detailed project plans, including implementation plans with defined tasks & time estimates
• Manage project implementation & tasks management
• Perform Best Practices & documentation
• Troubleshoot and resolve clients’ server & network issues
• Support and troubleshoot virtual networking
• Install/maintain servers & network infrastructure (i.e. e-mail, SQL Servers, Web servers, application servers, network switches and firewalls)

Personal Skills:
• Proven ability to manage projects while adhering to deadlines
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Is a team leader & works well with colleagues, clients and vendors • Effective/good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to mentor peers
• Strong knowledge of server hardware installation, configuration and maintenance.
• Quick (new-skills) learner
• Professionalism and ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, take initiative
• Provide technical leadership in design and administration decisions for information systems, operating systems, and platforms
