Responsibilities:

• Key contributor to eBay Local's SOA services and application code.
  
• Estimate engineering effort, prioritize projects, plan implementations, and help roll out system changes to the eBay site.  Help define and lead the implementation of complex, multi-tier distributed software applications. 
  
• Work with engineers, managers, Product Management, QA, Load & Performance, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles.
  
• Understand issues quickly and solve problems efficiently
  
• Develop industry and product technical expertise relevant to eBay's deployment and business model.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of large scale, full lifecycle development experience and at least 3 years as a lead engineer, preferably at a high-volume online company.
  
• 6+ years developing in Java required.
  
• Reguired: Expert understanding of multi-threading concepts required: thread management, deadlock, J2EE thread allocation, thread-safe programming, concurrency design patterns. 
  
• 6+ years experience required in object-oriented design methodology and application development in Java and J2EE, including Servlets, JSP, Java Beans,  JDBC. 
  
• Understanding of memory issues such as JVM Garbage collection concepts is required; Jave optimization.
  
• Strong knowledge of XML processing (DOM, SA) required.
  
• SOAP/XML
  
• Experience in distributed multi-tier systems and client-server architectures is required.
  
• RDBMS (ideally Oracle) experience strongly desired.
