The engineer filling this position will be responsible for both C++ and Java development of PayPal's Platform API offering. This person will be responsible for designing, building, enhancing and maintaining components. 

Primary tasks will be as follows:
- Work closely with business partners and intgernal product management to acquire a deep understanding of the business drivers for PayPal's Platform offering.
- Independently design, build and test complex multi-tiered feature areas based on high level requirements. Primary technologies will be C++, Java and SQL.
- Work with the system architect to create clean, organized code in an easily enhanced and maintained structure
- Manage integration with the standard PayPal build and deploy process and operational tools.
- Coordinate with other teams within PayPal as needed.
- Investigate live application issues; perform root cause analysis leveraging an in-depth understanding of the product domain are and drive the problem resolution process through to completion.
- Write detailed technical documentation to allow easy hand-offs to other team members.

Qualifications:
- Ability to work in a fast paced, iterative development environment with short turn-around times.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and explain technical issues to a non-technical audience.
- Experience building large scale, high performance transaction processing application
- Strong Java, C++ and SQL skills.
- Service oriented architecture experience desired
