Maemo Devices is expanding its operations in Mountain View, California. The site will initially focus on third party and partner integration. This site will also be essential in scouting for our future partners and making sure that we bring their experiences to our platform, as well as seamlessly integrate them to our own user experience.
You will be a Senior Software Developer in our R&D team in Mountain View. You will play a hands on role in working with our architect to design and implement software to integrate partners' offerings/experiences into our code base. You will also be working closely with the partners' architecture and development teams as well as our own R&D teams in Finland and elsewhere. You will also be engaged in technical discussions/negotiations with the partner teams on APIs and other capabilities/mechanisms to ensure a complete
offering of the partner experience. In this role, you will be rapidly prototyping and piloting software integration that can easily be productized by others.
You may also be creating fully shippable software along with the other team members. You will take full ownership of the software development for a particular engagement including, ensuring completeness, specification, design, quality, demonstrability, training and on-going support as well as planning and reporting. You may also be called upon to assist and coach other team members along the way.

Qualifications
8+ years of related software design and development experience in a technical lead role.
Prior experience developing applications on Linux in C, C++ - with good understanding of the tools for Linux development.
Proven experience with developing productivity and collaborative applications in a handset/embedded environment, including email, calendar, synchronization, device management and connectivity solutions. In particular related knowledge on technologies and applications like IMAP, POP, SMTP, Activesync, SyncML, MTP, OMA DM, Open Office, Koffice, document formats and VPNs will be highly appreciated.
Demonstrated understanding of web technologies, like HTML, JavaScript, XML, ...
Demonstrable experience working with external partners/clients with responsibilities for significant software integration that included technical negotiation of APIs, features, test support etc.
Proven hands-on experience with rapid prototyping/piloting of software
to demonstrate and validate concepts, integrations etc.
Proven experience with understanding APIs, understanding the needs and ability to define the APIs and support required for an application platform
Past experience with software handovers including training, support procedures etc.
Solid understanding of sound software development principles, including experience with waterfall and Agile software development methodologies
Demonstrated ability to engage with technical teams and liasion between remote teams and partner teams
Prior experience working in geographically distributed software development
Proven ability to work independently with ability to balance making decisions and seeking guidance
Any Linux/Open Source community experience will be a plus.
Prior experience with QT, Linux kernel and lower layer development, will also be a plus.
