The Product Manager's main focus is to ensure that DemandTec maximizes the profitability and adoption of its products. The Product Manager will assist in the development of the strategy, roadmap and requirements for DemandTec End-to-End Promotion Management™ working with an experienced team of Product Managers. DemandTec’s products are all based on a Software as a Service (SaaS) model and delivered through a web based interface on a subscription basis. All software is developed using the agile methodology. A successful team member on DemandTec’s product management team will balance DemandTec’s needs across several dimensions:
• Ability to work with customer’s and prospects to uncover their needs and to then translate those needs into a world class software experience.
• Ability to understand the power of complex analytical solutions based on industry leading algorithms and to translate these solutions into every day use applications for retailers and consumer goods manufacturers
• Ability to work with engineering, education, quality assurance, professional services, sales and other internal groups to educate them on how to best build, test, deploy, DemandTec’s software services.
Primary Responsibilities:
Build a comprehensive understanding of the needs of customers and develop clear market driven product requirements:
• Who is the target market and who is the decision maker in the purchasing process?
• What product features must the product incorporate?
• What is the typical ‘best practice process’ in which this product would be utilized?
• What benefits will the product provide?
• What is the competitive landscape for this product/enhancement?
• What will it cost to produce it?
Define and prioritize business requirements for enhancements (features, functionality, timelines) and develop functional footprint and product roadmaps
Develop Product Requirements Documents in the form of user stories. Support requirements process:
• Develop Process Flows
• Detail functional and system requirements
• Highlight existing products/components affected
• Create entity relationship diagrams and understand, review data models to ensure data relationships reflect the requirements.
• Provide input to and validate quality assurance plans to support test driven development
Work closely with the various internal groups, customers, and development teams in all aspects of the product lifecycle:
• Transfer knowledge to the functional lines of the business as the product expert
• Support sales and marketing teams as necessary
Required Skill Sets:
• 3+ years defining software market, functional and/or technical specifications
• Strong communication skills, with an ability to express complex business concepts in technical terms via presentation and written form.
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment, manage multiple priorities, and reliably get things done
• Some travel required (20%)
Desired Skill Sets:
• Experience in agile development environment
• Computer Science or Engineering degree a strong plus
• Data modeling experience a plus
• Demonstrated expertise in quantitative disciplines
• Experience managing customer expectations
