Job Title: Integration & Support Engineer
Location: Mountain View

Summary:
Provide prompt, accurate system integration and support to OpenTV customers worldwide. This ranges from assistance with using OpenTV products, complex software engineering analysis and integration of OpenTV software onto different set-top boxes and developing test programs to validate the porting interfaces. In general, engineers should be familiar with several areas of OpenTV technology and be able to intelligently assess specific problems encountered in the field and determine an appropriate path to resolution.

Job Responsibilities:
Key tasks include:
• Work with STB manufacturers worldwide to ensure success of OpenTV integration projects.
• Day-to-day interaction with customer engineers regarding issues.
• Work on-site with customers in global OpenTV offices or customer facilities as needed.
• Use e-support database to track and manage global customer issues and research similar cases.
• Create generalized “Solutions” to specific problems for use by other engineers in the Worldwide Support organization and by customers.
• Review and analyze OpenTV and/or customer source code and trace output to isolate problems.
• Escalate technical issues within the global Support organization or to OpenTV Development as appropriate and act as intermediary with customer.
• File bugs in the OpenTV Development bug database when research indicates a problem in OpenTV code.
• Escalate significant (“hot”) customer problems to OpenTV global support management promptly.
• Understanding of the interface between OpenTV and STB drivers; developing tests to validate interface functions that customers will be creating
• Execute validation tests to ensure proper driver behavior

Skills & Qualifications:
• Problem analysis and triage skills.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in software design/development in C, C++.
• Experience in developing embedded software in ANSI C.
• Ability to read complex source code, add diagnostics to assist with problem analysis and test fixes for any issues found.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English via email, telephone or in person with customer engineers and project managers.
• Ability to collect appropriate known/unknown knowledge and eventually design a solution.
• Experience with one or more development / build environments and source code revision management tools preferred.
• Experience with components of popular computer system / network integration or design is useful (shell scripts, protocols and programming for Internet, databases etc.)
