Job Description:
Newly formed, well funded spin-off company is seeking a bright, well rounded, experienced Senior Web Developer / UI Engineer with a *strong consumer Internet background* to participate in creating and launching a new product. If you thrive in a start-up environment, enjoy adventure, challenge and growth, want to build a new Web UI from scratch and do it right - this might be a job for you.
Skills:
- previous experience creating UI architecture for an entire site is a big plus.
- You are familiar with templating languages, preferably FreeMarker. Especially if you have had a chance to build macros with it.
- You speak, read, and write JavaScript. And I don’t mean ‘alert (“Hello World”)’, rather deep knowledge and appreciation of the language. You have built your own JavaScript prototypes, classes, etc. A line like “var add = function(){ return a + b; };” makes sense to you and terms such as “overloaded function”, “asynchronous function call”, “data scope” somehow make sense too.
- You really like AJAX yet know how to maintain the balance and keep users comfortable
- You are comfortable with JSON
- You know at least one major UI framework. Dojo experience is a plus!
- You are familiar with Java
- You developed your own widgets based on at least one UI framework or toolkit.
- Which framework / toolkit would you choose for a site where majority of end-users are most likely to use IE 6, 7 or 8? Why?
- You know what XSS is. You can pinpoint XSS-vulnerable code
- You know how to optimize CSS and JS loading
- You don’t have to google “SEO”
Obviously:
- BS Computer Science or Equivalent (top-tier school is a plus)
- good team player as well as independent individual contributor
At this point you most likely already know if this job is right for you. If this is what you are looking for - let us know!
A cover letter outlining your experience with the topics mentioned above will really help to speed things up as well as serve as a proof that you have read this entire post. If you are not familiar with all of the topics - it's ok, you probably already understand what the key points are.
