The Telecom/Technology Global Supply Manager (GSM) is an individual contributor who will represent Apple in drafting, negotiating, administering, and managing the full range of domestic and global commercial contracts with primary focus on infrastructure related telecom sourcing initiatives as well as on IT related initiatives associated with the procurement hardware, software, and IT professional services. Responsibilities include working closely with all levels of client and supplier groups as well as internal Finance and Legal Departments resulting in strategic supplier relationships that achieve cost-effective procurement decisions for the company. The GSM will also manage the overall business-to-business relationships between Apple and the supplier through day-to-day interactions and supplier business reviews, ensuring the best leverage of company dollars.
Requirements:
• Documented senior-level experience with negotiating contracts for the procurement of telecom equipment and services and IT hardware, software, and services. Telecom sourcing and procurement experience is required.
• Exceptional documented results with negotiating contract terms/pricing, implementing standard procurement best practices, building strong relationships with clients and suppliers, and consulting on procurement best practices for cross-functional project teams.
• Good understanding of how to integrate basic elements of a statement of work (SOW) into the overarching terms of a contract as well as negotiating both long-term and short-term engagements.
• Utilize RFI (Request for Information), RFP (Request for Proposal), and RFQ (Request for Quote) techniques to identify, select, and engage with suppliers to ensure competitive market advantage. Direct and implement supplier-sourcing strategies to ensure high quality, on time delivery, and cost competitiveness. Experience with e-sourcing applications a plus.
• Implement proactive procurement philosophies, strategies, policies, procedures, and systems. The Telecommunications/Technology GSM influences cross-functional organizations while enhancing strong internal relationships in order to meet business requirements and cost objectives.
• Take an innovative approach to business relationships and structure deals that yield the best value for the company. Foresee process and relationship scenarios and advises internal business client groups on value-added approaches to supply base solutions.
• Good understanding of business contract law.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including contract writing skills.
• Must have current knowledge of telecom and IT spend categories.
• Ability to manage and close multiple contracts in parallel.
• Able to maintain perspective and confidence in the face of difficult contract negotiations, tight deadlines and client expectations.
BA/BS degree plus 5-7 years experience or MA/MS/MBA degree plus 4-6 years experience, or equivalent. Contract writing and negotiation experience required. Minimum of 3 years telecom sourcing and procurement experience required.
