iHomefinder, a thriving and profitable provider of Internet services to the real estate industry, is seeking an experienced Lead Software Engineer to head up our development team. In this role you’ll be responsible for both managing a small group of senior engineers as well as serving as our lead architect and developer.
Management responsibilities will require about 25% of your time, and will include negotiating requirements with product management, planning and sizing development projects, and managing the complete software development cycle. You’ll also be responsible for assigning and managing the resolution of reported bugs and escalated trouble tickets.
As the lead software architect and developer, you’ll be responsible for designing and coding major enhancements in all areas of the company’s systems, including our AJAX-based user interface, ColdFusion front-end, Java back-end, administrative and billing system, associated relational databases, and scheduling and workflow system. You’ll help monitor our production system and assist the operational team with problem resolution. You’ll also work with our technical support team to help resolve challenging customer issues that involve your domain of expertise.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
· Proven experience in delivering robust and scalable commercial web applications, especially in a start-up environment.
· Extensive experience with web technologies, including XML, XSL, XSLT, HTTP, HTML, XHTML, AJAX, and JavaScript (especially the Prototype.js library).
· Experience in resolving compatibility issues across the most common browsers.
· ColdFusion or other web development platform experience.
· Extensive object-oriented design experience.
· Thorough understanding and experience with Java in highly-scalable web applications.
· Thorough understanding of object-relational mapping technology (e.g., Cayenne, Hibernate, or EOF).
· Good understanding of relational database design, SQL query language, and optimization.
· Familiarity with Google Maps APIs.
· Experience with web services implementations (e.g., SOAP, XML-RPC, etc).
· Understanding of scheduling and work-flow systems.
· Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
· Ability to analyze business requirements, and use this data to develop technical specifications.
· Ability to give accurate development time estimates, keep projects on track, and give early warning when adjustments are needed.
· Experience in managing small development teams, keeping team members focused, and shielding them from interruptions.
· Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Qualifications:
· BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related field.
· 7+ years of software development experience.
· 2+ years of experience as a team lead.
