JOB SUMMARY:
The Software Engineer analyzes, designs, programs, debugs, modifies, documents, tests, and supports embedded software for telecommunications, networking, and encryption products.

Primary Job Duties:

• Develops and maintains software for embedded communications processors and link encryptors.
• Architects, designs, and implements new features. Provides bug fixes for released software.
• Contributes to future direction of product and evolves software.
• Determines testing procedures and documents test plans.
• Provides documentation for user guides and release notes.
• Works directly with hardware devices such as serial communications controllers, networking interfaces, and cryptography hardware.
• Works with hardware engineers to assist with board design, bring up, and debug.
• Works with tools such as in-circuit emulators, logic, analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Interacts with customers to resolve customer issues and determine requirements for customer features.


Experience & Technologies

• Knowledge and experience with embedded systems
• Proficiency in C and assembly language.
• Knowledge of networking (SNMP, SSH, Telnet, TCP/IP, UDP, ARP, MAC layer, bridging) and ability to troubleshoot network problems.
• Knowledge of telecommunications protocols (T1/E1, T3/E3, SS7).
• Experience with software controlling hardware devices
• Experience with in circuit emulators, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
• Experience with Freescale processors a plus
• Knowledge of cryptography a plus
• FIPS 140 experience a plus

EDUCATION / TRAINING: BSEE or BSCS

YEAR OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Minimum Four
