ENTERPRISE OPERATIONS ENGINEER
JOB SUMMARY:
Leading software-as-a-service business intelligence provider is seeking an experienced operations professional with strong database development, administration and scripting skills to help deliver customers unprecedented insight and analytical capabilities more quickly and cost-effectively than traditional solutions.
Our world class team is rapidly expanding and refining the leading next generation business intelligence platform, delivered software-as-a-service. We are looking for the world’s best operations professionals with a “can do” attitude and experience in data warehousing, database administration and operations. RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Enterprise Operations Engineer will be responsible for a variety of implementation and operational tasks for deploying and maintaining powerful business intelligence systems to various new and existing customers.
Specifically:
• Setting up new instances of our revolutionary Business Intelligence platform
• Executing data warehouse data loads
• Identifying and managing database performance issues
• Bringing automation to routine tasks
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• 5-10 years working in a SQL Server DBA, software and database development role.
• Excellent knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, triggers and database performance tuning in SQL Server 2005
• Excellent knowledge of one or more scripting languages – VBScript, PERL, Windows Power Script
• Ability to design SQL Server databases and optimize query and database performance.
• Familiarity with data warehouse concepts (star schemas, facts, dimensions)
• Experience building web services using IIS7, Tomcat and Apache
• Working knowledge of BI concepts.
• Independent and self-motivated with a proven ability to work in a rapidly changing environment.
• Good interpersonal skills - Works well in a team environment and interface with numerous stakeholders
• A can-do, “do what it takes” approach and to contribute in a start-up environment.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Willing to step in and take on responsibilities outside the DBA area (Operational level troubleshooting)
• Interfacing with a hosted, fully managed environment – driving excellence from our vendors and partners
• Experience working on high-volume, load-balanced 24x7 production Internet sites
• Experience working on high-availability, clustered database environments
This position is based in San Francisco; but occasional travel may be required.
