Software Applications Engineer - Robotics

A software applications engineer is a hands-on expert user of company robotics products and their application to customer implementations. Application solutions span computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.

The position requires exceptional programming skills using C, embedded, Windows development tools including C#, and real-time programming.

This is a customer facing position that interfaces with both current and prospective customers. You work within the Product Engineering group and directly interact with manufacturing and sales to solve customer requirements and improve company products and support. You receive incoming customer technical support calls/emails and carry them to successful resolution. You work with customers to understand their application, leverage our devices for their application, and determine additional capabilities and improvements. You test and verify product engineering solutions and products, and assist in connecting them to customers. The position requires significant application and interface software development and support.

Primary Responsibilities:

Technical support

  • Receive incoming tech support calls and emails, debug issues, solve problems, follow-up
  • Identify issues that require an RMA, follow RMA procedures, follow-up
  • Feedback tech support issues to product and manufacturing engineering groups
Application support
  • Transform customer requirements into actionable engineering tasks
  • ­
  • Maintain and improve product documentation
  • ­
  • Support pre-sales customer applications and sales department questions and issues
  • Maintain, design and program user device interfaces
  • Project based consulting: execute projects to develop customer-specific applications by developing custom software and carrying through the application to final implementation testing
Product testing
  • Replicate problems identified by customers so that product engineering can debug them
  • Develop and execute test plans for new and existing products, program test plans and setups
Requirements:
  • Minimum BS in Computer Engineering (CE), Computer Science (CS) or equivalent
  • 2 years experience
  • Professional and effective forward facing customer presence with exceptional phone skills
  • Proficient in C, C++, and C# in a Windows environment. LabView a strong plus.
  • Mechanical and electrical systems familiarity. Embedded and robotics experience a plus.
  • Excellent written/communication skills & organizational/time management skills
  • Ability to work multiple projects in parallel, works well in teams, proactive problem solver
