The Job:
As the Lead Ad Optimization Engineer at Scribd, you'll combine your coding skills with deep analytics and business savvy to drive our monetization forward. You'll work with the key players in online monetization to implement new monetization ideas on Scribd. And you'll be constantly analyzing and understanding our monetization data to look for hidden opportunities. In the process, you'll learn how to do quantitative ad optimization at one of the web's largest and most technically sophisticated publishers.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone with an engineering background to learn the monetization ecosystem, build high-level industry contacts, and develop business experience.
The lead ad optimization engineer will have direct responsibility for a multi-million dollar revenue stream.
The Ideal Profile:
Ideally, you have several years of experience developing web applications and have a strong engineering background. You've worked in the online ad business, or you at least have strong interests in statistics, analyzing data, and the internet business. You're naturally excited by the idea of continual optimization and are a mature, responsible individual.

The Lead Ad Optimization Engineer will be a highly influential, key player in shaping our business. They will work directly with the CTO and Executives to make Scribd excel.
Responsibilities:
Continually optimize advertising on Scribd by A/B testing different ad optimization ideas
Work closely with our monetization partners at big and small companies
Understand and analyze huge amounts of traffic and monetization data
Build and test new monetization ideas
Work with the finance team to confirm, understand, and predict revenue
Direct responsibility for a multi-million dollar revenue stream
Qualifications:
Strong experience in at least one major programming language required
Strong SQL knowledge
2+ years work experience as a software engineer building web applications
Good knowledge of front-end web programming
Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
Previous experience in online ad industry preferred
Good communication skills
Responsible, organized individual able to take on a big responsibility
This position reports to the CTO.
Availability: Full-time.
Location: You are preferably located near San Francisco, CA. Relocation assistance is designed on a per-case basis. In short, we'll be creative to get you here.
