Company: Aardvark

Type: Full-time Job
Location:
San Francisco, CA
URL: www.vark.com

Aardvark (www.vark.com) was founded in 2007 by top engineers and entrepreneurs from Google, Yahoo,  and other major Valley tech companies.  Their goal is to provide access to the knowledge, wisdom, and experience of your extended network in realtime.

With Aardvark, there’s nothing to download or install: you just send Aardvark a question through a channel you already use (IM, email, Twitter, etc.) -- like you do when talking to a friend.  Aardvark figures out who might be able to answer, and asks on your behalf, getting you answers from your network within minutes.

We’ve been written about in The New York Times, BusinessWeek, Forbes, and Wired and continue to lead in the Social Search space.   We are well funded by August Capital and are proud to have over a dozen well-known technology leaders as individual investors – including Marc Andreesen, Deep Nishar, Sean Fanning, Barney Pell, Jeff Hammerbacher and others.

Research Scientists

Aardvark is looking for computer scientists to join our research team of four AI Ph.D.s working on innovative algorithmic solutions to a wide variety of search-related problems. Aardvark’s researchers work on problems related to profiling, query comprehension, routing, and evaluation, as well as large-scale analytics projects. Aardvark's researchers are familiar with the latest developments in natural language processing, machine learning, and quantitative analysis more generally. As part of this team, your ultimate goal is to facilitate the development of tools that exhibit continuous and assessable improvement along the lines and scale of Netflix's recommendation system or Alexa's traffic aggregator.

Requirements:

  • Background in computer science, mathematics, physics, or other quantitative discipline
  • Obsession with data and system improvement, tempered with pragmatic ability to prioritize
  • Comfort working within a modern engineering environment (linux, system architecture, etc.)
  • Ability to script experimental solutions and use off-the-shelf statistical analysis tools

Pluses:

  • Experience with production engineering
  • Familiarity with Ruby on Rails
  • Industry experience with large scale algorithm challenges in the consumer Internet space
  • Previous startup experience

  • To Apply:

To apply, please email your resume to careers@aardvarkteam.com.
