Responsibilities

Build and maintain mission-critical backend systems supporting Chegg’s E-Commerce, Sourcing/Distribution, Inventory Management, Payment Processing, and Product Catalog infrastructure
Write clean and maintainable code
Work closely with a team of other skilled engineers to solve challenging technical problems
Identify and fix performance issues in highly scalable web applications

Qualifications

Extensive experience with Object Oriented PHP5 and Object Oriented Programming
Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills
Well versed in code optimization and software design principles
Excellent knowledge of MySQL, including complex reporting
Experience in working with Linux/UNIX on the command line
Experience with Subversion
Web Services / SOAP / REST / XMLRPC experience
Previous work at fast-paced, startup-type environments

Bonus Points

Java development experience
Experience working with PHP Internals
Previous experience with large e-commerce sites
