Ruby on Rails +++ Web Developer / Designer
Our company (Zazengo - zazengo.com) is in need of a fulltime web developer with a focus on the front-end, preferably one who can spend at least three days a week in our beachfront office by the Santa Cruz harbor. The ideal candidate...
CORE SKILLS:
- Able to have a conversation with other human beings in normal language.
Able to hit the ground running in a Ruby on Rails environment.
experience with the Facebook API (esp FBML/FBJS) a huge plus.
Mastery of the front-end stack, including
HTML
CSS
Javascript (esp jQuery).
- Has a practiced, user-centric design eye with competence in Photoshop/Illustrator
- Accepts that IE6-8 are browsers too, and has the intimate knowledge required to make it behave like one.
- Might not be writing HTML5 right now, but wants to, and has good reasons why. In other words, up to date.
- A desire to make big things happen for really big clients while working closely with a tiny (and awesome) team of experienced and talented people.
- Able to show examples of applications built for scale and performance
- Possess communication and interpersonal skills necessary to work in a tight engineering team in a small company
- Experience using version control systems, especially GIT
It will be extra nice to hear that you have experience with..
BONUS SKILLS:
- You are a contributing member of the larger Ruby/Rails community
- Familiar with professional hosted server environments (EngineYard, S3, EC2)
Have had your hands dirty with production sysadmin responsibilities (linux, dns, etc.)
- SEO best practices
