We’re looking for a coding rockstar with business savvy to complement a product development whiz, sales/marketing powerhouse, and chief bottle washer. We have a small tech start up in the B2B ecommerce space. We have customers who like our product, pay us money, and are willing to pay us more money. We’ll be profitable next year.
What we need is a kick-ass, no bs, brilliant engineer who will wow our customers and the rest of the team by building a great product. You will work long hours coding and put your heart and soul into this company and be rewarded for it with a good salary and significant equity stake. You are metrics driven. While you hate documenting and testing, you know that it needs to get done properly. You are agile. You are proactive, aggressive, bold, diligent, and a rock star coder. Seriously, if you’re just ok, you’re not right for this company. You have a business mind and want to grow into a strong manager over time, but still want to code. A lot. You (with backup from strong advisors and the rest of the team) will be hiring a couple engineers to fill out our ranks. You demand perfection from yourself and everyone you work with. You don’t know what an excuse is.
You know, love, and live Ruby, Rails, mySQL, but have a traditional foundation which enables you to learn new languages. You are not scared of picking up new (or old) programming languages because while you understand the benefits of Rails, you recognize the business case for maintaining a system that is already working. Experience working with large data sets would be good. Experience working with Amazon, eBay, ecommerce platforms, analytics/reporting systems would be very good. Experience at a fast paced start up would be great. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who has been at a Google-esque company for a couple years and is ready for the next challenge!
